Genera, in conjunction with the Southeastern Partnership for Integrated Biomass Supply Systems (IBSS), hosts free field day event featuring on-farm demonstrations of harvesting
VONORE, Tenn. Jan. 15, 2015 — Genera Energy Inc., a leading biomass supply company that supplies biomass feedstocks for the advanced biofuels, biopower, and biochemical industries, is co-hosting a Crop Technology Day in conjunction with the Southeastern Partnership for Integrated Biomass Supply Systems (IBSS Partnership). The free event will be held Tuesday, January 20 on the Color Wheel Farm at 2632 Niles Ferry Road in Vonore, Tennessee, and will feature on-farm demonstrations of crop harvesting and an unmanned aerial vehicle presentation.
In addition to Genera Energy, Inc. and the IBSS Partnership, there will also be representatives from New Holland Agriculture and John Deere, who are supplying the equipment for the harvesting demonstration. In addition to the harvesting, there will also be a drone presentation that will highlight how this new technology could impact the industry.
“The Crop Technology Day is a great opportunity to educate the community about the bioenergy industry,” said Sam Jackson, vice president of business development at Genera Energy, Inc. “Our energy crops are produced through a sustainable production process that requires evolving technologies, such as the ones that will demonstrated at the event. The community will gain a real-time understanding of how the technology and bioenergy industries work together towards a more sustainable future.”
With many consumers turning to energy efficient and environmentally friendly alternatives for fuel, a significant focus has been placed on biomass innovation and advancement. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, biomass energy consumption has grown more than 60 percent in the last decade, leaving researchers and developers tasked with improving processes for converting natural resources into consumable energy.
