Infographic highlights a variety of biomass feedstocks, provides insight into choosing the right solution for any biomass project
VONORE, Tenn. August 21, 2014 – Genera Energy, a recognized innovator in sustainable biomass feedstock supply advancements and supply chain improvements, released a new infographic featuring a visual overview of biomass feedstock and guidelines for choosing the best solution for every biomass project. The four-page infographic highlights key supply chain elements and explores which biomass crops are best suited for an application.
“Showcasing the important elements of all biomass feedstocks is vital to the success of our industry,” said Sam Jackson, vice president of business development for Genera. “Genera is the only biomass supply company with commercial-scale experience with multiple energy crops, and it’s very important for us to educate our customers on ways we can incorporate biomass supply solutions that are tailored to their specific needs.”
Key details in the infographic include a description of five different biomass crops including switchgrass, miscanthus, energy cane, biomass sorghum, and corn stover. The infographic also features a detailed look into comparing biomass feedstocks, and provides a thorough overview and comparison of the entire feedstock process. While not suited to every biofuel, biochemical, or bioproduct conversion facility, each of these feedstocks play an important role in meeting the needs of the emerging biomass-based industry. The selection of the right feedstock or portfolio of feedstocks is unique to each project, and this infographic provides basic information to aid in making the appropriate selections.
“Feedstock is typically 50 percent or more of the cost of producing renewable biofuels and biochemicals, and optimizing a project’s feedstock portfolio has a significant impact on profitability,” continued Jackson. “This infographic is unique because not only does it provide a detailed look at a variety of feedstocks, it also provides a breakdown of how the feedstocks perform in the specific stages of the biomass feedstock production process. The infographic enables Genera to provide a basic feedstock overview to prospective customers, policy makers, and other partners in a clear and easy to understand manner. It should help biomass users and the general public better understand the portfolio of feedstocks available to the industry.”
