Genera Energy Names Sam Jackson VP of Business Development

Company takes new step toward increasing its impact on industry

VONORE, TN Oct. 1, 2013 – Genera Energy Inc., an award-winning biomass feedstock supply chain enterprise, has realigned some of its key management as its commercial business continues to grow.  Sam Jackson, Ph.D., has moved into the role of vice president of business development.

Dr. Jackson was one of the founders of Genera, leading Genera’s biomass feedstock production and supply chain programs. Since March 2012, Sam has served as VP of biomass feedstock development and supply. In that role, he led the development of Genera’s agronomic capabilities and corporate partnerships, and was responsible for biomass production and logistics.

Dr. Jackson’s transition to VP, business development, is a key part of positioning Genera as the market leader in biomass supply. His knowledge of the industry, its key leaders, and active projects will better enable Genera to market and develop its ability to deliver consistent, quality biomass feedstocks to meet large scale commercial demand.

“With several new commercial projects under construction or operating today, biomass supply chain services are in high demand,” said Jackson. “Working with our customers in the industry, I look forward to expanding Genera’s project portfolio and market share. It is very exciting to be a part of a developing industry where new opportunities arise each day.”

Jackson earned an M.S. in Forestry from the University of Tennessee and has considerable experience in silviculture, forest management and wood procurement. After receiving a Ph.D. in natural resources from the University of Tennessee, Dr. Jackson became a faculty researcher at the university with a focus on developing sustainable, practical, and economical biomass supply chain solutions. He has received national recognition for his work developing feedstock supply systems for bioenergy and bioproducts and pioneered the establishment and management of switchgrass as a sustainable and cost-effective bioenergy feedstock. Jackson is also a founding board member of the Council on Sustainable Biomass Production. He joined Genera Energy in 2009 as vice president of feedstock development and supply.

“Not only is it important that we get farmers and landowners engaged and involved in the supply chain as we build our business, but we must also develop the right business relationships to allow us to commercialize our biomass supply chain services,” said Kelly Tiller, Ph.D., president and CEO of Genera Energy. “Sam’s extensive knowledge of the entire supply chain will help us deliver a feedstock supply solution that is tailored to each of our customers’ needs while minimizing their cost, reducing risk and ensuring consistent quality. ”
